Welcome to PRIDE PC-Tax

Disclaimer: PC-Tax is the product of ongoing research and we continuously update the taxonomy and data.

PC-Tax is the Pontocaspian taxonomic platform that targets so-called Pontocaspian biota. These biota are a unique flora and fauna that evolved in mostly brackish lake systems in and around the Caspian Sea, Black Sea and adjacent lakes in the past few million years.

PC-Tax is developed as part of the EU-funded Innovative Training Network “PRIDE” (Drivers of Pontocaspian Biodiversity Rise and Demise). Between 2015 and 2018 we will include different lake biota, fossil and recent that characterize the Pontocaspian biota in PC-Tax. Initially we will focus on a number of groups including bivalves, gastropods, ostracods, and dinoflagellates.

The aim of PC-Tax is to provide standardized taxonomic information to be used by researchers working with Pontocaspian biodiversity. We aim to attract users beyond the PRIDE program.

PC-Tax is maintained by Aleksandre Gogaladze & Niels Raes (Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Leiden, The Netherlands), so if you have any question please mail us at aleksandre(dot)gogaladze(at)naturalis(dot)nl
